I moved to NYC 15 years ago, in part because of my love of theatre. I have seen so many incredible performances and productions on and off-Broadway throughout my time here. However, rarely have I felt so fulfilled and connected with a company and their performances. I’ve had the honour and pleasure of seeing all three of Gracemoon Arts productions since their opening in July. I have returned multiple times to each production, bringing friends as often as I can because it has felt like an experience everyone should have. After each performance, the audience is welcomed to a post-show discussion in their salon. This open discourse is so incredibly insightful; you can talk about how the show made you feel, ask any question of the cast, or just sit silently and contemplate, as I often do. Some of the best discussions I’ve ever been a part of have been during these conversations. I highly recommend checking out Gracemoon Arts; This brilliant company has created this remarkable space to connect with others through art that is so needed in New York.

The consistent excellence in each production alone is enough to make Gracemoon Arts the best value for money in New York City theater. The community created by the sharing and healing that happens in the conversation among the audience and ensemble after each performance deepens the value and experience. Michèle and the wonderful ensemble have built a beautiful labor of love that is in and for the local community in Bushwick and those of us lucky enough to be able to get to Bushwick. After you see one performance, you will know why I and so many others now always get tickets for the next play as soon as it is announced.

I had the privilege of attending a performance of ‘Dutchman’ at Gracemoon Arts, and it left an indelible mark on me. The production was deeply moving, stirring something within me that felt profound. The intensity of the performance invited me to confront ideas about race, power, and identity in ways that were raw and real, shifting my perspective in unexpected ways.

But what truly elevated the experience was the post-show (conversation) It became more than just a discussion — it felt like an exploration of human connection and the power of art to challenge and unite. Even with healthy debates and differing opinions on the approach of art and what is being conveyed, there was an undeniable vibrance in the room. I left feeling more open, more alive, and deeply appreciative of how Gracemoon is shifting perspectives in such an intimate, personal way. Gracemoon Arts creates a space where art doesn’t just entertain —it transforms audience members and I can’t wait to return.
